Hello Backyard Pitmasters!
Thanks for your interest in participating in our “Almost Heaven BBQ Bash” in WV the weekend of June 16-17, 2017, and we look forward to welcoming you to another great event at a wonderful new location – the beautiful grounds of the historic Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV.
We’re proud to be the only KCBS Sanctioned BBQ Competition in the state, making this the WV State BBQ Championship, the WV Cup for the Mid Atlantic BBQ Association, and the WV Governor’s Cup for the winner of the 2017 Backyard BBQ Competition. Although we’re planning several other family activities to attract people to the downtown area – it’s about BBQ and YOU!
We’re pleased to again have Rusty & Julie Cook of Stone Mountain, GA, as our KCBS reps, and have been working hard to make this an event one you’ll want to return to every year!
NEW LOCATION: We’re excited to relocate the event to the grounds of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV. Featuring acres of level space with paved parking, grassy areas with huge shade trees, NO wait for load-in, a secure gated area in downtown Weston (approx. 15 min. from our previous site & only 6 minutes from I-79), there’s plenty of room for more teams, more activities, and more fun. Check out photos & historic information at www.trans-alleghenylunaticasylum.com or their Facebook page. Special discounts for team members & families will also be offered for a variety of historic tours of the facility.
Hopefully, the following information will answer all or most of your questions with more details and updates as we get closer to the event date! Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have other questions in the meantime.
